Got a call today, guy wants a stubborn bush removed. He's cut it down a couple times, it keeps coming back. He said it was a lilac, but I haven't seen it yet.

What's the best way of making sure a stubborn bush doesn't come back?

Where would one get Garlon? Lesco doesn't seem to carry it.

    Just a follow-up....

I decided I'd just dig 'em out. There were 5 of them, I budgeted about 30 minutes apiece, so I bid $150 for all of them. I got there at precisely 1:00 pm, I was done by 1:35. I felt a little guilty for pricing it so high.... but not for long payup .

Thanks for all the help, guys!

I couldn't tell you. I have to confess I'm still learning my shrubs, and the homeowner didn't know either. He originally told me lilacs, but I at least know that that's not right. It was a low shrub with small roundish leaves, no thorns or anything. Shallow roots that run horizontally, which made it easier to get them out. Lots of small branches springing pretty much out of the roots, although this may be the byproduct of his trying to cut them back. If I'da had my camera I'da took some pictures.

    But I didn't. :blob3:

The reason you were asked what kind they were is because with some shrubs, unless you get every piece of the root they will grow back.
