    Hello all,

I was wondering when I can apply roundup so that the existing lawn/weeds are killed before I top dress and seed the lawn. The existing lawn has more weeds than lawn. I just don't want to pull the trigger too early, but want to get a head start as it is my own lawn. Nothing like being a landscaper and have a lawn that is shot ya know.

Any toughts or suggestions would be great.

    Thanks guys!

Prevent crabgrass in April. Kill weeds in May and again about Aug 5th. Overseed...or kill everything, wait 10 days and then overseed. Slit seeder is easier than tilling up the soil. This time use higher quality seed and get professional care--not much chance of the weedy mess coming back.

spring time is a bad time of year to kill and reseed, but if you must, roundup type products only work on green tissue, so you have to wait until everything is actively growing and out of dormancy.
