Kohler Command Pro 23

    We got a Kohler Command Pro 23 V-Twin engine thats about 3 years old. We now have are first major problem with this low hour engine. It is now starting to smoke a lot and foul plugs. Some oily residue in carb, but not enough to generate the amount of smoke it does. We are think it might be a possible head gasket. Compression in #1 is about 120, while #2 is about 140. We have left a message with our dealer to call us about any possible knowledge of this problem.
    Shop manual just ordered and not here yet. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of what this might be? Any factory notices concerning this problem?

    when you say foul plugs do you mean on one cylinder? your compression should be within 10% of each other and it's not. the oil in the carb is what's left over after burning the rest so you may have excessive blow by through the rings or head haskets. I would say it may be both.

    Fouling is on is on both plugs. High compression side is just a little less fouled.

    Put a teaspoon full of engine oil in the cylinder through the plug hole. Crank it over a few revs (starter only) Then recheck the compression and post your findings.
