Kohler Engines cv162 wont crank?

    hello, i bought a craftsman lawn mower, with a Kohler 16.5 OHV engine.
    model; cv16s,
    family; SKH426UIG2RB
    SPEC; 43513
    DISP (CC); 426
    when i try to crank the motor, it will only turn over and spin. :cry: it will not fire. I have changed the gas, checked the fuel line and fuel filter, and unhooked the fuel line, and gas comes out the line but engine will not crank. i can get the engine to crank if i manually pour gas into the carb. what shall i do next?

    could this be the float might be stuck? it has been many years since i have worked on small engines

    Remove your a/f and make sure that the choke butterfly/flap is closing completely when you engage it.

    the choke butterfly/flap is now closeing. still want fire, its not getting gas to run. i can get it runing if i use a squirt bottle with gas in it by squirting it into the carborater. It will quit running when i quit squirting the gas in it. I don't know what the part is that is on the bottom of the carborator bowl. It has a red wire running into it. what steps do i take to remove the bowl?

    That is the fuel solenoid is it clicking when you turn the key? Check with a multi meter and see if you are getting 12volts at the solenoid, key on.

    the fuel solenoid does not make a clicking sound, and i used a muilty metter to check it, and come up with 0.00 do i need to check from red wire to ground or red wire to green wire that runs to the carborator

    The green wire should run to a ground usually but, I would check to make sure the engine is grounded first. Then the red wire to ground, then check the battery and then start tracing back till you find were you are loosing the 12volts. Quick check run a jumper from the pos cable on the battery to the red wire on the solenoid and see if it clicks or starts but don't leave the jumper hooked after you test .

    i get nothing from the solenoid, is this my problem? if so can i fust replace the solenoid, or how does it come off. or do i need to take the butterfly/solenoid pice off and take to the shop? thanks

    oh yea sorry about taken so long to get back. we had a 3 day yard sale, dang its a lot of work,,, lol

    No problem at what point are you now? Did you jump the solenoid as I described? What is your battery voltage? As far as removing it we first need to make sure it is this item, because most fuel solenoids are not cheap and electrical items are non returnable if this is not the problem.
