Nice work LandMatters! How's the competition out in Frederick? Do you compete with Outdoor Finishes?

I'd like to learn how to do hardscapes. What would be the process? What classes do you need to take? Maybe when I have a crew set up for my biz... you can be my mentor? :)

    Tom,
I think we may have competed against Outdoor Finished once or twice. There's definitely plenty of work in Frederick and within 40miles of Frederick.

As far as the process of starting a crew, you'll definitely want to take the ICPI course (www.ICPI.org) usually offered in the spring by several manufactures of concrete pavers. You may want to take a class or two on landscape design or just read up alot on the how-to's. There really is no easy way to just start unless you have a good idea of what you're doing. Luckily for me, I'm a landscape architect and my business partner has been installing hardscapes for 8 years.
