Just torqued a Lawn-Boy (Gold Series - 2 cycle Dura Force) on a broken off iron fence post; damaged beyond repair. As Lawn-Boy is no longer going to make the 2 cycle, does anyone have a suggestion for replacing this unit? Keep in mind I prefer the offset wheel design on the Lawn-Boy for easy and close trimming. I guess the true question is how is the Tecumseh engine?

I was at Lowe's yesterday, and they are still selling the Lawnboy Silver series with a 6.5HP 2-cycle engine. $380.

A far a Tecumseh engines go, I have a Tecumseh Vector 5 HP on an Ariens mower that was purchased in 1995. I have been inpressed with it, I didn't think it would last as long as it has. It still shows no signs of trouble.

You can still get the 10550 Gold Pro at There are also some new ones on Ebay. Silver Pros are still available at Lowe's.
