My lawn is a mess. Some grass, lots of weeds and other Green growth (have these little thiongs that lok like miniture pine trees 1/2 to an inch or so high - never get any bigger) I am thinking of puting in a new lawn - was going to add some topsoil and then re-seed. Is the fall the best time to do this? Is a new seeding better or easier than trying to bring back what is there (I never remember it being a great lawn at any time though). I need to install sprinklers as well. Maybe that is one reason the lawn isn't too great, as it doesn't get that much water either.

    Thanks for any advice/recommendations.

i would reseed. fall is the best time to seed but if you don't mind watering you can still seed but it would have to be soon. i would get a soil test done before seeding to make any corrections to the soil.
