I have a small yard to over seed and they want it rolled to which one should i do first ? Thanks .
Seed first otherwise first wind and your seed will be gone.
If you roll first, it will be much harder to rake the seed in to the soil. (Must be mixed in well).
Never roll a lawn. It compacts and / or breaks the root system.
I agree with Fine Lines. Do not roll the lawn. Aerate it well with a core aerator, seed it, water it to get the seed down into the existing grass and don't mow it for a couple of weeks. Explain the down side of rolling to your customer and how it is not healthy to the existing grass. If they insist, do it and charge them to come back an aerate it again once the grass is established
