How hard is it to add leaf springs to a truck? My buddy has a 1500 chevy that needs a tranny rebuild that I can get for dirt cheap. I'd like to get that and throw a dump insert in it but thats too much for a 1500. So would it be a decent idea to add some springs, make it a 2500, and get a dump insert? I'd only be using it for mulch, debris, little topsoil but never too much to overload it, and hauling the 16' trailer with two Z's. Opinions please...

    Can't really make it a 2500.
The frame, axles and brakes won't be up to par just by changing to a heavier leaf.

    Good point, I overlooked that.
