WHEN I FIRST STARTED, I PURCHASED A 32 TORO PROLINE WB 13 COMMAND KOHLER NEW AT THE LOCAL DEALER. I QUICKLY REALIZED I NEEDED A SECOND MOWER A LITTLE LARGER. I BOUGHT A USED 48 LESCO 15 KAW WB FOR ABOUT HALF THE PRICE. IT ONLY HAD 170 HOURS ON IT.WHEN I STOPPED BY THE TORO DEALER ONE DAY, I ASKED HIM FOR AN OIL FILTER FOR THE KAW 15. HE SEEMED OFFENDED WHEN I TOLD HIM I COULDNT AFFORD ANOTHER MOWER FROM HIM BECAUSE THEY WERE EXPENSIVE, AND BOUGHT A USED LESCO. I LOVE THIS MOWER AND ITS BUILT LIKE A TANK!HE PROMPTY TOLD ME WITH HIS ARROGANT ATTITUDE THAT LESCO WAS CRAP. HOW CAN THIS BE? THE TRANNY(TECUMSEH) KAW ENGINES COME ON TOROS TOO. I DID MODIFY THE PISTOL GRIPS TO DRIVE SIMILIAR TO A T-BAR. MY OPINION LESCO IS A FANTASTIC MOWER. ANYONE ELSE HAVE A OPINION? THANKS

I certainly do and I agree with you 100%.

I think my lesco 48 belt w/ kaw 14 is a hoss of a machine.

    two thumbs up!

when it needs maintenance I do it pronto and the machine has paid me back with reliable performance.

it is a natural striping machine and it gives a quality cut.

there is a toyota car oil filter that can be used on the 14 and 15 hp.

as for pissey mower dealers, conduct your business with them and move on. time wasted there is time you aren't making money.

I understand the viper 2 has improved on the problems of the original.

I have heard the Viper 2 has made improvements, but after the troubles we had using the first Viper, I have since moved on.

    I still love my 48

We run with both a Lesco 48 and a Lesco 36. Never had one problem.

What kind of mods did you do to the Lesco steering to make it more like a T bar?

I would also like to know how you modified your Lesco. I talked to a Toro dealer and they said it couldn't be done. (They wanted to sell me a new machine.) I can't see much difference in the linkage , etc. My 36" Lesco-hydro stripes better than my 48" Wright Stander.

Lesco is made by MTD. Which also makes the Cub Cadet line. And many of the home owner stuff. We bought a MTD 36 hydro WB and a MTD 54 in. Z rider in 1998. We ran them hard for 3 years until we traded up to better stuff. Still use the WB at home and the Z rider we converted to a fert. and spray machine. Engine ,Hyd, and frame have never gave us any trouble.

    I have a 52 Toro and a 52 Lesco also w a T bar. All parts from

Toro. My Lesco is a 96. It cost me about 250 for parts. Works well

even goes backwards. Mower was in Turf North April 03. Ed
