I have an older Lesco walk behind (48" Commercial) that keeps slipping out of gear while mowing. When walking behind in say 2nd gear while walking the mower will stop and if I bump the shift lever it goes back in gear and keeps going. This is a repetitive process and I am sure there is something missing in the gear box or starting to go bad. I am looking for some suggestions to repair it.

Sounds like you might need a new tranny unless you are mechnically inclined. Reason i say this is most of the time it'll cost you close to the price of a new tranny if you were to have it repaired. The trannys aren't too hard to replace.
