    the talk tonight is raising prices. lets put down our thoughts to create a letter that everyone could send to customers stating that we will be raising prices... this is a group effort so lets get rolling. :waving:

    "This is my "x" year in business. Due to the increase in costs, ie fuel, parts, etc., I will be raising your rates "x"%. Thank you.

    Dear Customer,

    Look, I'm not even gonna try to lay any BS on ya. In order to support my increasingly lavish lifestyle (multiple trips to Aruba, new Hummer H2, season tickets to favorite NFL team, etc, etc) we find it necessary to jack up the prices for '05.

    We know you'll understand.

    I'm a hairball, and my Electrolysist has raised her rates.
    Due to the unfortunate hike in laser hair removal, I must pass this on to you, the customer.

    My feeling is that it is more professional not to give a reason. I just tell them.

    I dont tell them anything either, I just put the increase on the invoice. I do include a note saying that if they have a problem with the increase please contact me. I've never had anyone call me back on it, i've had a few return notes of approval though. Usually I'm just raising the pitas or mabey one that I underestimated - ie those few bottom of the barrel accounts, so I really dont care what they decide to do anyway.

    We appreciate your business, and value it greatly. For this season, the cost of the contract will raise 4% to account for steadily increasing expenses and inflation. We hope that you understand this price increase and choose XXX as your service provider...
