I just found out that the insurance company that carries my general liability is going to charge me a premium to the tune of an additional $230 per year if I apply for my contractor's license. They say that is their policy for anyone with a Georgia pesticide license. My question is, does anyone in Georgia know of an insurance company that will insure a lawn care business without penalizing us for having a pesticide contractor's license? Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.

I think all ins. companies in all states will have an extra charge for covering pesticide applicators. Its a great liability risk, as we are using dangerous chemicals. You're getting a good deal down there. I think my pesticide endorsement is around $500.00.

The two companies that I got price from were Society Ins. and General Casualty. Society didn't seem to have a problem with pesticides and General Casualty is okay aslong as pesticides don't make up more than 50% of your toal sales. 1 million liability with General Casualty is $540 a year. They are a Wisconsin Company. I don't know if they are available in Georgia.

Man, you are looking a gift horse in the mouth... my pest portion is well over a grand a year on top of my standard general liability.
