I am looking for information on liquid vs granular fertilizers for trees. I live at 8000' in the Colorado mountains and deal with fir and aspen trees. Is a slow release, granular application once a year sufficient, or is a liquid injected fertilizer more effective? Any pros or cons you could pass my way would be appreciated.

I live in coastal washington, so I don't have any info yea or nay re: 8000' up, but many of the trees feeder roots are in the 6-10 inch range below the surface. We use 8 inch lances to do deep root ferting in the winter and spring. It's slower (WAY slower), but the results are awesome.
