Work order stated "clogged QCV" and "assess the pressure" on a manual spray pop-up zone. Also had plenty of rust and sand.

Were you able to determine the problem ?

Looks like a mass of fine roots in the line or Mamma Cass's hair.

Smart ass. I CAN find you!

Actually, we (only 2 of us Tom) walked our QC lines and main line (transite) from this front area of the site back to the pump and cannot find any place where a suspected leak might be. I've had roots get into main lines before and create a leak but have never experienced a ball of roots like this before. With the presence of sand and rust/scale also I'm leaning towards a well casing problem or something along that line. There are several fruitless mulberry trees in the area of the well but I'm just not sure if this could be the problem. We're going to turn it over to the Maintenance Department to have the electricians (they maintain pumps) and plumbers take a look. I'd be curious if any of our well guys on the forum have any ideas.

LOL... You probably would have been running like a little girl hiking her dress up and screaming all the way Jon.

I was leaning towards some type of alien life form from the center of the earth at first. :)

Send the roots to UC Davis for DNA analysis.

You dismantled the new hydroponics system.

BTW, What kind of pliers is that in pic #4? Is that modified in some way? I'd like to see a pic of it w/o all the vegetaion on it.

Those are the Rainbird "riser extraction tool" for sprayheads. I'm pretty sure they are really just a pair of backwards snap ring pliers with green handles and a higher price ;)
