A local company has an opening as a groundsman and I am interested in the position. Other than watching my back and being as careful as possible, any tips from the pros?

    Would you recommend starting?

What should I look for/look out for?

I know it is a dangerous field, but I find it really interesting.

I'm currently a grounds men. I recommend it, You must wear boots, long pants, eye protection, ear protection and hard hat (gloves are also handy for roping) Do NOT wear anything that could greater your chance of getting pulled into the chipper, lose gloves, rings, watches, untied shoes, ect. Pay attention to your surroundings!!! Before going under the tree, always look up. If you hear him start cutting get out from under him, a branch is not worth your life. Also, look up how to change a chainsaw chain and clean bar and learn from there.

And if you start using chainsaws, wear chaps. They could save your life.
