I have had too many close calls on tight jobs in buildings with the 289C, and having spotters is getting lame. What is out there and who is using what?
I know Cat might have the D Series camera as an option but they might be way over my budget .

When in tight spots the camera on the D is great to have. Every time I get in our C I am always looking for the screen that isn't there. Only thing that would be nice is for the screen to be just a bit larger. It really adds to your productivity when you know right where everything is and can move faster

I am looking for a unit with a screen that will fit where the goofy reqr view mirror sits in the middle of the cab.

I spent a long wet day working on the 289, ordered the camera kit on Monday, and it arrived on Thursday, those people don't screw around.
Monitor clips over the existing beauty/makeup mirror, it shakes a bit in high speed, but I can always mount it on a plate to the cab. No worries.

Did some measuring, once an object gets in the red lines, you are 24" from it, once it gets to the end of the red, STOP. Auto infared night vision is real nice.

Power comes from the 12V power port, that way it can be turned off, even though there is a power switch on the monitor, after I ran the wires, I realized I could tap into the aux. beacon port power behind the insulation in the corner of the back of the cab, oops. But no worries.

Module is secured to the plastic above the radio and the camera cable is run through the hole for the aux. beacon with a rubber grommet.

Camera is centered on the radiator grill and wires are hidden and ziptied out of harm's way.

I also hated the factory lights, too frickin' yellow. Hello Rigid LED floods. I can see through clothing with them.

now how will you get the makeup and eyeliner on if the mirror is covered up.

I like it though. My toolcat needs one.
