Currently I just have the site at the link below which I threw together on Vistaprint. I get decent hits on it for not having been up for but a couple months however I'm planning to turn it over to a currently undecided upon designer/seo company later this year and moving it to a new host. I also need to get our logo onsite, (see signature) but it currently doesn't fit anywhere, which is another reason for the new site. The new site will have a payment page and the obligatory photo section but I'd like to figure out something different and neat to add. If you notice in the Blog section I'm adding off-topic items like recipes and such, which has brought some traffic that otherwise wouldn't have visited I imagine.

So any ideas, feel free to chunk em at me. Thanks!

Suggestion: Check out other websites first. This would normally be the very 1st thing you do in your planning process.

Buy your own site, you want the phone to ring? You are not getting paid to advertise for "Vista" are you?

Hey bro, site dont look bad. Need a little more. Check my site and if you like it just hit up my web guy and he can set you up with very reasonable price. He has taken care of several guys on this site this year and they were very happy. On his site you can see a list of clients that have trusted him with there business. Good luck.

Not too bad, I wouldn't put prices on mine though. Each yard is unique and different, and requires an evaluation. Rather, I would push the free estimate part to get them to have you come out. That way you can sell other services.

That web designer had some nice looking sites on it.

the big orange one looks like a quick wordpress template to me, though.

If you can put up that vista print site, you can do a wordpress site yourself. It's not so much about how it looks, it's about leads. But if you have a nice looking site, odds are that people will figure that you'll make their lawn look nice, too.

You can do the hosting yourself, too. It's super simple.

The seo you might want help with, but if you are already getting leads from your vistaprint site, it shouldn't be too tough to get them with your own site.

btw I've built 43 sites so far, and have moved several of them to google page 1, including my own lawn business. It's what I do in the off-season.

There's really no reason that you can't do it, too. It's not hard, and the knowledge is out there and easy to get.

    It's just time consuming.

By all means, if you don't have the time, hire orange's guy or whomever to do it. But if you're like me, the off season is the perfect time to build your own website.

ring, you are correct, however, I think your marketing would be more effective if you hosted your own wordpress websites, instead of using the wordpress hosting service.

unless, of course, your wordpress hosted sites are there mainly to get link juice to your main sites.

in which case i withdraw my comment.

personally i use the google keyword generator, the google suggestion tool, marketing samurai, and traffic travis for keyword research.

like you said, anybody can do it, it just takes time to research and implement.

jonthepain & ringahding - help me understand what I think you are saying. I currently use a Vistaprint website. Are you saying I can not get on the first page of a google search? My goal, like most, is to be first or at least first page of an organic search.

Just talked to Mike Carleton at 42nd Street Designs, Big Orange's web guy. He seems to be knowledgeable and good on price. His business fits what I'm looking for, close enough for me to meet in person, experience in the green industry, and has a graphic design background. I'll post how it goes.
