Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the site. I've been searching for a new commercial mower as my other zero turn is losing power, and have come across a Scag Tiger Cub 60'' 25hp Kohler with 60 hrs. (demo) for $6800. Thought I'd ask if you all thought this was a good deal or whether I should continue searching. I'm hoping not to spend over $7-7500 in my purchase. If you think I should continue searching for a better deal, any suggestions?

That was actually one of the initial reasons I was drawn to scag. Also, because of the reputation of the cut quality. And during the demo, even with around 9-12in of wet grass the quality of cut was upheld. This is definitely the most important feature, as I pride myself on the way my clients yards look when I'm done. I believe I'll be taking the dealer up on the demo model, as I can just use the extra grand I'd be spending elsewhere....unless anyone thinks the suspension seat and 27hp Kohler would be worth it?

Bad boy mowers dont even come close to a scag. Bad boy's are ok mowers, but they are not a scag. You dont see any of the large lawn maintenace companies in the US running bad boys. I know the the manager of the Ohio's Brickman group and they have tried them all and they only run, scag, walker, toro, and exmark. I look at what the big boys are running, they mow more lawns then anyone and beat the crap out of there mowers, everyday.
Maybe if bad boy sticks around as long as the big boys, they will earn respect.

I know everyone who owns a bad boy is going to jump on the soap box. Go for it. I love it.
Im one owner that wont be jumping on the soap box. THEY SUCK! Ours didnt even make it through the break in period before it fell apart, and it never cut good from the start. Thats why you wont see them on any Big landscape maintenance companies trucks. They have a lot of work to do if they want to say they can compete with the big boys in "real" commercial mowers.

I demoed, and used a scag cheetah with the suspended operators area and a 61" deck and its makes my tiger cub seat feel like im sitting on 2x4 when I cut. the seat is so comfortable, the mower is quick, still fuel efficient. its like mowing on a lazy boy sofa, and the cut quality is great, they are durable machines, reasonably priced, and I have 2 dealers for scag 5 miles from my house, both of which I go by on a weekly basis. I would get a cheetah if I was you but they are around 9500 with a 61" deck. little bit more then the tiger cat.

As a mechanic I am surprised you say they are decent. I am an industrial mechanical specialist and the BadBoy is mechanically far superior to any other mower in it's price. You guys compare a $7000 BadBoy to a $11000-$14000 machine and the BadBoy still matches up well. BadBoy prices are not cheap they are just more correctly priced. For $14000 you can buy a 5500 pound tractor. The price on some of these big name mowers is out of hand.
I've learned that a big part of the "Bad Boy haters" can only make very vague negative remarks. Never any specifics....because when you compare "apples to apples" there are no shortcomings in the way the commercial BB machines are designed, or the components used.

One say's "they're not as heavy as other mowers and that's bad"....while the next says "they're too big and too heavy, and that's bad"!! Obviously they can't be both, so you realize it's just a matter of (sometimes a very biased and uninformed) opinion.

I just smile and shake my head and go on to some credible, useful info from people that know what they're talking about.
