I recently bought a used Ferris mower. It has a 61" deck and a 23 hp Kawasaki motor {model FH 680 V} I called Ferris about getting a factory service manual and was told they do not have any for Ferris tractors. They only have parts and owners manuals. I bought them, but still can't find what I am looking for. Does anybody know what type of engine oil this motor takes and what the change frequency is? I have the same question about the hydraulic oil. What type and how often to change. Thanks for any help, K-dog. PS- the model of the tractor is a procut Z.

SAE 30 or 10w30. Those are in the operator's manuals. It may be on the dipstick though. I think it says every 100 hours of service. Also, if you go to their website, you can download both of those manuals that you purchased for free (or they used to be).

    The
Ferris does not use standard hydrolic oil. It used Fully Synthetic 15-50w Motor oil (I use Mobile One).

Tim, what frequency do you change your hydro oil at? 500 hours or less than that? K-dog

That is an older unit prior to the IS series.

Engine runs on straight 30 weight and I would change that sooner than 100 hours due to its age (more like in the 50 - 75 hour range). 5 or 15-50W is ok for your hydros. Change the filter and fluid once a year (500 hours) or less.

I have had over the course of 14 years 20+ Ferris mowers so if you have any other particular questions, shoot me a PM.
