Regardless of what party you are.

Being prepared prior to a unknown life threatening situation has nothing to do with politics . It has something to do with being smart

When is it enough? How many supplies can you store? A week, a month, a year? Simple fact of the matter is many people simply do not have the ability to prepare for any possible contingency, short or long term. The only people who are truly prepared are those who are 100% self sustaining, anyone who thinks otherwise is just clueless.

This gas shortage has opened my eyes to how vulnerable my area is to catastrophe, both natural and man made. Meaning if a major storm or terrorists wipe out NYC and the bridges long island and its 7.5 million people are on their own.

We are all dependent on fossil fuels. As Kiril said, "off grid, self sufficient" will work, to a point. We carry 60 gallons of propane, so can last quite some time, but if Safeway/Trader Joe's is down for an extended period, we're screwed, just like everybody else.

Everyone but me homie. We keep enough gas to get to our family ranch in W. Texas. At our ranch we have a windmill on a good well, a power generating windmill, and everything else we need to live off the grid for an extended period of time. The ranch has been in our family since it was settled, so really I would just be going back home.

Not to mention, 5 family members are former Special Forces. Whether I am or not is nonya.:nono:

It's a bit more like the aging GOP is simply not doing a good job selling its virtues to the citizens of today, not to mention that the really old fuds know enough of history to be wary of increasing the distance between the wealthy and the working classes.
