I don't know about online, but I know that Home Depot carries them. Great edger!

I got on Home Depot's web page and I see they do sell the Mclane edgers. But they only offer the 3.5 hp briggs. Do you guys have the briggs and is it powerful enough? I found a local rental yard selling the 4 hp honda for $550.00. At the Depot the briggs is only $268.00. Big price difference do you guys think the honda is worth the difference?

I have the 3.5 Briggs- It will cut as fast as I can walk, That works for me. However I use a stick edger 80% of the time.

In my opinion it is worth spending the extra $ for
the 4 hp honda engine. That is what I purchased and will continue to puchase.I never pull more than 1
time.Even after sitting all winter. The power is

That edger at the rental yard for $550. Is probably a commercial grade machine as opposed to the handy homeowner model at the home depot.. Compare apples to apples before you make a decision based on the prices.....

I wonder if they are the same chassis. I have looked at the one at the rental yard. Very tough machine. All ball bearing wheels, zerk fittings and bearings at the blade attachment. The home depot's here do not have one I can look at, and the online picture is vague.

Is it worth replacing a defunct Briggs engine with a Honda 4.0 engine on a McLane gas powered edger. The McLane running gear is in pretty good condition but the Honda engine is $350. That is a lot of money to dump into old hardware. I may also have to buy additional hardware to install the Honda motor onto the McLane chassis.

I would check the price of another briggs engine or maybe a complete new edger. I have a craftsman that I have used for many years and held up well with a briggs, the craftsman sell for around 300. In previous post the edger was 268 new but that was 2 years ago. Lots of places are reducing the price of yard tools this time of year to get them out of inventory for the winter, would be a good time to do some shopping.
