    LCA members,

It has come to our attention that a very important vote will probably happen tomorrow regarding new legislation that was
introduced in the Maryland State House of Representatives. House Bill 466 would require anyone that applies fertilizer to charge an impact fee and then pay the state those collected fees to be used toward future storm-water management projects. This appears to be another attempt to tax services.

Members from MAGIC had a very good hearing on HB 466 on Tuesday with the House Environmental Matters Committee. Several members of the Committee came out of the hearings afterwards and told us that we did a good job - and they don't think the tax will pass. But we're dealing with politicians, so we can't be sure until it's done.

The Committee generally has voting sessions on Friday. So please use the attached list and send e-mails to everyone on the committee asking them to vote against HB 466.

Also, I recommend contacting your customers (because they would be the ones affected) and ask them to contact the committee.

Thanks for your support. It makes a big difference when the legislators hear from you!
