I now most of the guys here could care less to read this.
But here it is for those who care...
And for those who insist I'm strictly a Deere basher.

Well, I have never been impressed with John Deere's true commercial mower offerings. But I have always liked their 2005 and older lawn tractors. Mine were good but I could not live with all the safety features for my commercial uses of a lawn tractor.

Anyways, the unit that really really impressed me this morning is a little LT166 with the Freedom 42 dedicated mulching deck. It is a timed setup like a Walker. I'll tell you what, that little mower with that deck is really remarkable. Man can it mulch like crazy and not labor the engine at all.

It's nothing lightning speed or anything, maybe 5 mph, but man does it perform well mulching and leave a really nice quality cut. The finished cut looks similar to a job done with a walkbehind w/bagger. But honestly, the cut quality looks BETTER.

    I'm impressed :clapping:

Envy - try the 495 - that is a commercial super duty, last forever, mower.

No... might be able to rumage a pic up though.

In North Carolina... yeah, it's a commercial mower... LOL

But no, in the real world it is just a little 42" residential lawn tractor.
The mulching deck sure performs great and leaves a nice cut though.
It really got down to business on some juicy spring tall fescue.

Hey, don't complain... the Simplicity Broadmoor is a good lawn tractor too.

I just brought up the John Deere because their mulching deck surprised me.

Anyways, all of JD's good looking lawn and garden tractors are on closeout right now.

It's the timed blades. My Ferris SD 36 has timed blades and the cut quality is second to none that I've ever used. I don't have a mulch kit on it but when the bag is filled and it just won't hold anymore grass you can't tell. The engine doesn't slow down and there are no visable clippings trailing on the right hand side like you would normally get. It is an incredible mower. Now if they would just put a real hydro system or brakes on it so you could steer it they would have something.
