Wet for sure!! Thanks Sharpcut for the props! Here's one to think about - by the end of this week, we've got the potential to have had at least 3 inches of precip drop from the sky. Any of you guys that are thinking of starting cutting routes next Monday should equip your crews with tow straps too - as I predict that you'll be pulling your riders out of more than a few soggy backyards. We've pushed our projected start date for cutting until the next week (first week in May). It sucks - but the weather just doesn't warrant an earlier start.

Not exactly the start to the season I was looking for. Getting backed up on work real bad right now

backed up isnt the word....between cleanups and mulching, ****- ive got people that wanted it all YESTERDAY and they think that they are the only ones on the list. First warm, dry day and they are like, where are you! :hammerhead:

JASON.- May 1st sound ideal except with 3" of precip the damn grass is gonna be a jungle! Its a lose- lose situation. We all already lost 2 weeks of billing that wont be made up for.

I am just pissed at this weather pattern- im ready to relocate to Florida

I don't do it until the ground is more solid. Otherwise it just gets filled in with mud before it does any good

Agreed - if you do it now, it will just make a huge mess and doesn't really benefit the lawn that much at all. I would wait until AT LEAST the third week of May.

Sean - I think we'll be ok as far as growth goes with a May start. It hasn't been that warm and sunny, so the grass hasn't really taken off. Three years ago we had that Late April/May start - but it was a lot different. We had to delay because of a week of rain (and decent temps). That year the grass got a good jump on us.

Yea i remember that Jason. We had to bag our hole route just to make them look decent. I remember alot of companies were blowing clumps off the lawns for weeks.lol There was also 2006 when we got like 2 weeks of rain the start of the season and had to let everything dry for another 2 weeks. I think the 2nd or 3thrd week of May is when we got our first cut in. It all works it self out, we ended up cutting later that season, so we got our 26 weeks in.
