    Question for everyone......

At the mgia landscape show in novi every year is a vendor that sells some type of bar code id system that you put on whips, blowers, tools, mowers that lets you know if something isn't in the truck/trailer. Does any one know the name of this company?

If you want someone local Soulliere on Little Mack at Stephens offers a contractor discount. I can give you a good deal on mulch orders of 4 yds or more and I deliver cheaper than anyone in the area.

Public Act 231, eff. June 29, 2012, amended the Michigan Motor Carrier Safety Act (PA 181 of 1963). With the amendment, sections of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations no longer apply to a vehicle that does not meet the definition of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in 383.5 of the federal regulations, and, is operated in intrastate commerce. A CMV that does not meet the definition of 383.5 and operates in intrastate commerce is not subject to the following: 1) Obtaining or displaying a USDOT number,
    2) Hours of Service regulations
    3) Compliance with the vehicle inspection requirements
Those vehicles would continue to be subject to sections 391 through 393 of the federal regulations. Those sections pertain to driver qualifi-cations, safe vehicle operation, required vehicle maintenance, and cargo securement.
Vehicles being transported continue to be defined as hazardous materials; therefore, towing and other vehicle transport operations are sub-ject to the 1 million dollar hazardous materials insurance requirements of Act 254.
Under 49 CFR 383.5, Commercial Motor Vehicle means a motor vehicle or combination of motor vehicles used in commerce to transport passengers or property if the motor vehicle meets one of the following criteria:
    (1) Has a gross combination weight rating or gross combination weight of 11,794 kgs or more (26,001 lbs or more), whichever is greater,
inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of more than 4,536 kgs (10,000 lbs), whichever is greater; or
    (2) Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 11,794 or more kilograms (26,001 lbs or more), whichever is greater; or
    (3) Is designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver; or
    (4) Is of any size and is used in the transportation of hazardous materials and is required to be placarded under subpart F of 49 CFR part 172 or any quantity of a material listed as a select agent or toxin in 42 CFR 73.
Intrastate commerce means any trade, traffic or transportation in any state that is not described in the definition of interstate commerce.
Under 49 CFR 390.5, Interstate commerce means trade, traffic, or transportation in the United States:
    (1) Between a place in a State and a place outside of such State (including a place outside of the United States)
    (2) Between two places in a State while passing through another State or a place outside of the United States
    (3) Between two places in a State as part of trade, traffic, or transportation originating or terminating outside the State or the U.S.
