I have heard some say $40 or $45 for granular. 2k and less.

One of the leading competitors here is only charging $55/$60 for up to 10k.

Then there is the blowing off of walks and driveway.

I have seen other Co. In the area and I really think many are skimping on rates. Especially the big national Companies.

    I tend to go heavier.

You know, those very small lawns sometimes are worse than the 8k sq ft ones. Have to do a lot of hand work. I am taking my min for any lawn up to $45 this year. Those postage stamps are a lot of work.

Are you talking just Fert and APS or just mowing...or both together...?

I had a lawn the last few years and the total lawn area is less than 800 sq feet if that. Has to be bagged, access to the back is a total pita. Even with my TimeMaster this lawn is a pita. A bigger lawn with vastly more open area hitch up the step saver and even double cut is much more enjoyable and takes about the same time element.

I'm cherry picking my new mowing accounts this year and raising rates for 60%+ of my mowing accounts. Making room for fert and APS.

On these tiny lawns the old "4 metal bottom screw" Scott's handy green spreaders are the rage. I hear Earthway is still working on something that actually works. Going to order a Solo with back single strap and replace my Earthway 3100.

    Just Fert/Squirt, per app.

I agree they can be a pain to mow as well. A lot of trimming cause everything is an edge.

Minimum stop is $42/app, comes out to roughly $23 for just the stop then add in labor.materials etc

Most of our small lawns are in a route with small lawns, they all get a 100% liquid program. So there is no cleanup.

I charge roughly $75 per 10k sq.ft. for granular in my area. It works out pretty well since I pay $23-$35(depending on which product) for most bags of fert that cover 10K-12K sq.ft. I find that charging one consistent price for all applications and making a little more on some and less on others works well. I try to get $75 as a minimum and explain to the customer that I have to buy a full bag even if they only need half of it. I'm open to suggestions though, this is only my second year doing fert applications.

By the way, I don't even attempt to compete with trugreen and the like. I explain to customers that if they want to go with those companies, they will pay less for lower quality service and products...most go with me.

Then again, in my area I'd be hard pressed to find a lawn under 4K sq.ft.

Man seems like you guys are paying quite a bit for fert from this thread and other threads
    We're at $14 for 50lb bag 46-0-0
    $20 for 50lb bag 0-0-62
    $13 for 50lb bag 25-0-15
    24.05 for 50lb bag UMAXX 34-0-2

Not sure what the individual price would be, these are all based by the pallet

Always keep in the FRONT of your mind the statement, "Route density is the key to profitability".

No one is making any money unless fert is coming out of the spreader or liquid is coming out of the hose.

I do a whole lot of tiny front lawns just to plug in gaps between 4-5k size lawns on our daily routes. You can easily get $20-25 per thousand on these. Takes five minutes per stop including writing up paperwork. The clients happily pay it because they also got quotes from other companies who doggedly try to stick to a high minimum $.

Ahhh route density.....Our most profitable routes are the small ones in the MPLS area. 30+ accounts/ 6 hr day with a minimum of $42/app. Very nice day indeed, very little driving around.
