Yes we also just finished round 1 finally.

Dimension is your friend this year for early breakthroughs.

Although I only saw some poking out on bare edges ..

Mised the flush of dandies going to seed early on many properties.

Most customers have been good about remembering how crappy its been and how it effects timing.

Others though dont seem to remember last week let alone 4 weeks ago and think everything should already be done.

I saw alot of poorly cut lawns last week clumps everywhere, stragglers, matted down grass and just all around shitty looking.

And yes we had a few turn out like thay too unfortunately.

    Back to the grind.....

Good thing these temps have been so cool for so long.
Who's heard of still putting pre emergent in mid june!
thankfully soil temps have stayed cool, except my garden isn't doing much :)

Can't get a thing done as far as installations. We have two large projects going right now and they're halted til it can dry out.

Anyone have know a qualified lawn maintenance crew leader looking for a job? PM me if so...

Also, anyone have any training material on quality control for lawn maintenance. I know it sounds goofy, but apparently common sense isn't so common anymore...

Millville Pro Motocross Nationals, next week(end). Anyone going? After racing this weekend up in Mora (Friday night fair race, Saturday practice & racing Sunday at the motocross track NE of town). I'll be heading down there with my rig Tuesday night after the Anoka Fair supercross race and waiting in line all Wed until they open the gates at 6pm, then thoroughly enjoying my only true vacation of the year (no cell signal) with some riding Thur & Sunday possibly and then never ending pitcher of beer! The pro's race Saturday, it will be a great show & event to say the least, my favorite week of the year.

Anyone else struggling with employees this year?

I am starting to second guess myself this year. My previous employee was with me for 2 years and he was a champ. Lost him to his old job that offered him 70K/Year.

Lost 3 employees already this season. Had to fire the first 2 I hired this spring. This is for strictly mowing. The work was horrendous, lost accounts, upset customer, etc. WOW! I was stressed. Found a new guy. He was a rockstar, Was doing what 2 people could do in 1 weeks time plus more. This guy was with me for 4 weeks and come this past Monday morning he was a no show. After several calls, emails, texts, he finally responded and says he needs more money. :realmad: FINE< I can work with him on that, so I told him to call me and lets set up a time to meet, no response for 1 whole day. I threw him what I think is a lot of money, $$Mid/Upper teens/Hour plus fuel allowance and Cell phone stipend. Says he has to think about it and get back to me at end of day. Well end of day came and went with no response. I have been mowing all the accounts this week and part of me is mad that I made the offer I did, as I can see his work got real sloppy last week. Several areas not trimmed, fence lines, mailboxes, etc. and even some areas not mowed.

So now I am in a real bind, Running solo with 65 mowing accounts and 150 fert accounts. Stressed out as I need to do about 1 dozen shrub trimming jobs yet, an application of weed control for crab and the summer annuals, misc odd jobs, plus the WIFEY is due with baby #3 at the end of next week. AAAHH. Not sure how I am going to handle that if I have 2 days of mowing left and I get that phone call of "Water Broke. Its go time"

Anyway, sorry for the crybaby rant, but if any one has any leads on some mowing crew laborers, I am looking for 2 people or 1 go getter. The mowing can be done with 1 person in about 40 hours(at least that is what I can get it done in)

here is the craigslist ad if you want to send them to me.
