I was wondering if you guys could help a newbie on billing issues? What is the best way to accept payment? Before the job, after, monthly billing... It just seems difficult to time my mow so that they are home to collect but most people for some reason want to see the work done before they pay.

Monthly on all weekly regular customers. One time/ part time mowings either payment at time of service or in advance unless they make special arrangements.

I bill 90% monthly. a few of my customers are always home and like to pay each time. I prefer the monthlies as you don't have to stop and visit. Time spent visiting is better spent on the next job

Monthly agreement....billing goes out on the 15th-due by the end of the month. Which is the end of the service period.
Cumulative service...Sent out at the end of the month. Due on receipt.

Same here. I bill monthly but any odd jobs or different stuff I bill upon completion.
