I decided that if and when I purchase an edger or multi-tool it will be a Stihl.
Sorry I hit the wrong button, anyhow Have any of you guys used the Stihl FS-83RT,Its suposed to be more enviromentely safe vs the FS85RT, My dealer says that the 83 revs up quiker than the 85 and is about 50 bucks cheaper. What do you guys think.Thanx
I think I would have him service one up and let you try it out first. Hopefully he is correct, but in my experience, everytime you get more environmentally safer you lose a little in performance. If the 83 has the same power and throttle response, then I would see nothing wrong with it.
Probably I have an outdated brochure, but it show the FS 85 RT as only available in California. The 83 is 11.7 pounds at 1.2 bhp and the 85 is 11.2 at 1.7bhp. Don't have any expierence with one but if it is anything like the difference between the 420 and the 420c blowers I would stick with the 85. If you have a chance to check one out please let us know how they compare as I am in the market for some new split boom stuff in the spring.
