What type of motor oil you guys/gals use in your mowers.

Last year I used SAE 10W30 but it burns out quickly. SAE 30 about the price of a good synthetic oil.

I am thinking about moving to a synthetic oil such as Mobil SAE 10W30..

    What works for you?

I had been using Mobil 1 10w30 in my Kohler and Kawasakis but the Kohler developed a tick at 550 hours so I switched to Kohler 10w30 (the tick disappeared) in all engines.

I use 80% Pennzoil sae hd30 and 20% Lucas in all of my 4 stroke engines. In my truck, I use 20w50 Castrol with Lucas (high mileage).

10w-30 Pennzoil only. Tried 30wHD once and it got really thick after a while of running it. 10w-30 has worked the best so far. 2000 hrs on our kohler, 121000 miles on our truck and no blue smoke.

In my 14hp and 17hp Kawi's along with a 11hp I/C Briggs I use Castrol 30 weight. For my 21'' push mower Briggs 30 weight is used because it comes in the pre measured container. All two stroke's are run on Stihl oil. Finally, Delo 15w40 is used in my truck (diesel).

If it has a filter then it gets synthetic oil but if it does not they it gets Pennzoil. I am not going to spend the money on synthetic and dump it out every 25 hours of operation. Everyone will have a different opinion but then again that is what you asked for. I would just say make sure you change the oil when it is either dirty or has gotten the hours between changing and you should be fine.
