i started a part time biz last year and have a skid and dump truck...been doing anything requiring a skid loader...

ive been thinking about specifically going after more moving fill from one place to another on a smaller scale (100 yards or less)...i like getting paid on both ends...

i have had about 4-5 jobs like this last year and they were the easiest and best jobs for me, less wear and tear on my skid (but more on my dump truck)...

but my question is why didnt the excavation company haul off the fill, and is this common?...

It was probably not in there contract, which has a lot to do with the gc looking for the cheapest bid.Its to bad many people don't realize how important proper land clearing and prep is,i bet there is what, maybe five yards of topsoil left on these jobs.Shameful!
