I have a 1993 model Explorer II with a 52" side discharge deck (CD-52SD). The spindles and bearings are getting a bit worn and need some work. Are the newer spindles as on the new Lazers adaptable to my old deck. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Russ,

You can't update to the current version but if we get a little creative we can use some of what we've learned over the years to get you something close.

First I'd recommend replacing your housings and spacer between the bearings if they are worn at all, use bearing number 1-303543 and add a dust shield to the top of the assembly. You can order a 3-pack of dust shields under p/n 1-631614. I would also add a bead of heavy grease under the dust shield between it and the top bearing.

The bearing itself has a higher grade of grease in it than the originals, the seals have been changed slightly and the dust shield is a good improvement as well.

Let me know if you have any questions or give me a call at 800-667-5296.

    Thanks,

    Terry

Thanks very much. That's the way I'll go.
