I recently purchased an Exmark Lazer HP - 23hp Kawasaki
    I was wondering:

    1) How many hours should I get out of this mower?

    2) How many hours do you all put on your ZTR mowers per year?

Trying to figure out how many years this mower will last me before I have to start repairing or buying a new one.

    -Thanks

How many hours you will get out of the machine depends on two things for the most part.

    1) How do you operate it? If you don't whomp on it all day, every day it should last you a while. If you do whomp on it each and every day.. be prepared for it to go down soon.

    2) How often do you maintain it? (grease, belts, blades, oil, filters, etc) If you hardly ever do maintenance, it won't last you very long. If you keep up on maintenance you should be fine for a long time.

I'm sorry but I am going to have to argue with the Exmark rep on this one. An abused 23 Kawasaki may only get between 1000 and 1500 hours but one that has been properly maintained should get double that. Kohler engines on Dixie Choppers are known to go over 4000 hours.
