    is it just a matter of cleaning the carb?

    The engine sounds like it's running fine..... But, Something sure is making alot of noise.

    Remove the belts from the engine then run it again, If the noise is gone check any idler pulleys and the gearcase for dry/bad bearings.....

    Cool! Thanks I will definitely do that :) I really appreciate you coming in to the rescue...I am mechanically challenged.

    Two other things that can't be seen from the video:

    A) when it idles at slower speeds the engine is much less "smooth"
    B) I don't think the video camera microphone was able to catch it, but their is like a popping noise (back fire?).

    oh yeah, and now that I've got it running do you think $450 was a good deal?

    Ahhh...... Not till you find out what all that horrible noise is..... $12/$15 idler or $500 gearbox......


    Make another vid with the belts off and at idle where you say it's popping.....
