We are in the process of updating one of our mowing setups. Currently running a GMC 3500 with the 6.6 Duramax and pulling a 28' goose with 4 ztrs. Looking into a Ford F350 or upgrading a size to the F450. We run 450s on the landscaping side with dumps but this would be just a crew cab with flatbed. Didn't know if anyone ran a similar setup (F350/F450 with large goose) to compare mpg. We are looking at either the 6.0 or the 6.4 but haven't decided which engine would be more efficient.

The 450 may be overkill to some degree. But if it will be just as efficient as the 350 then it's something to look at...

    Thanks. :usflag:

I would look at the dodge 3500/4500s, with the 6.7l cummins. I had an F250 w/ 6.4l and it was a nightmare. My new dodge 3500 has 26k problem free miles on her so far and 90% of the time I'm pulling an 18ft enclosed trailer, 25ft gooseneck or a 23yd dump trailer.

I would stick with the duramax. Do some research on those newer powerstrokes and I am sure you will decide otherwise also. I was diehard ford and when the 6.0 came out I switched and never went back. I have heard cummins has had some issues as well but I don't believe everything I hear either. Just do plenty of research before buying. I would go with a 3500 that is plenty of truck for no more weight than you are pulling.
