I own an older model HC 1500 that has been a huge money maker...although they are on the fritz at the moment.

not sure about the Echo, but I have a Stihl and love it. I really enjoy the handle that swivels. I didn't think that I would use it at first, but after a while using it, I don't think I could work without it. Good luck. Just make sure that you consider the service support you will be getting.

I have 2 echo trimmers and have never been in the shop. One is 4 years old and one is about 6 years old.

I have personally never used echo before, but I have used other Stihl products (not the hedge trimmer) and they are hands down the best I feel

Look at the gearbox of the two. I bought the one with the bigger gearbox.
