I have a mulch job coming up with a total of 600 square feet of beds. 4 different beds, 2 are just open areas and 2 are foundation beds with shrubs. Someone put down that hideous red mulch some time ago. Person wants new mulch installed because they don't like the red. It's not very thick, maybe 2 inches and you can see bare ground in some areas.

Would you rake all the red mulch out onto a tarp and make many trips and dump on the property in a back wooded area, or, just mulch over it? I feel removing it is the best way to do it but I wanted to see if I was just being anal retentive and mulching over it would be acceptable.

I would do the best job possible, which would include removing the old mulch.
And it would have been billed into my price already.
This would also ensure better control of my weed applications.

Yeah I think you're right. I was thinking that removing the mulch would be charged separately versus a regular bed prep (redefining, minor clean up) being included in the "charge per yard" that I have set.

Lefet: So are you using preen, snap shot or neither?
