the only thing your far off is the estimated hr time... unless these 2 $8 hr knuckle heads work by theirselves w/o u... but i doubt it since their @ $8, thats no foreman rate, thats a regular joe blow hr rate...

anyhow w/3 guys (counting yourself), w/5hrs you estimated 15 man hrs... unless the 5hrs u estimate are actual solo man hrs.

1 person workin solo can spread about 2.5 yrds of mulch an hr. so 3 guys X 2.5 yards= 7.5 yards of mulch an hr. total job time = 1.35 hrs (3 man crew) or 4 man hrs.

    ------------------------------------------------
if i was to bid here's how i would do it
    $18 yard of mulch X 10 yards= $180 + $20 delievery charge= $200 15% markup= $230 total material charge

i charge about $35 per man hr for maintance, so if its a crew of 3, it would be $105 per hr. 1.5 hrs X $105= $157.5 labor expense...

    $230 + $157.5= $387.5

round up to $390 (cushion, lee-way) total estimate bill..... $390/10 yards of mulch= $39 per yard of mulch..... i usually charge $55 for single yard of mulch, but when its 5 yards up to 10 yrds i charge $45.... past 10 yards it varies from $45-35..... never anything below $35, $35 is for bids on 35 yrds of mulch or more :blob3:

Way off! 10 yards around here would be about $850+ depending on circumstances.

You're really low with your price. I charge $70 per yard plus a delivery fee depending on how far I have to haul.

Never seen a bobcat save time unless you are mulching wide open beds and even then you risk messing up turf. Try a mulch blower at 10 yards per hour plus (depending on conditions)....now we're talking! Thus why I sub out all jobs 5 ayds or larger to a blower. I do tehe prep work (edging) and they do the mulch. Win, win for all!

    P.S. 5 yards and under is $90/yard.

Who takes a skid loader to the job site to spread mulch? You have to be out of your mind to do that for 10 yard of mulch. Maybe, if you have 50 to spread on a commercial site and you can drive across a parking lot. My clients would freak if they saw me take a loader across the turf to dump mulch. Do you know what these things do to turf?

Guess again. Or better yet, try getting out there and actually performing some of this work rather then sitting there crunching numbers on paper all day.

But anyway, depending on what kind of mulch, if I have to pick it up or if it can be delivered, distance from pile to beds, layout of lawn (hills, flat, steps, retaining walls, etc.), layout of beds (open, crowded) amount of clean up to be done first..............etc, etc....
I'd be anywhere from $60 to about $90 per yard.

But I can't get mulch for $10 a yard as the original poster stated. More like $20-30 a yard depending on type and quantity.

And of course then there's I.C.B.I.N mulch which falls into a whole other price range since it costs $50 a yard! But I haven't actually spread any of that yet.
