I have a commercial job that would like me to keep up with their landscaping by mulching twice a year. It is about 800 Sq Feet of beds.

How do you figure how much mulch you would need? I figured 7 cubic yards, this should cover area 3 inches deep. Is this about right?

Also, about how many man hours should it take to put this out? Mostly flower beds with some shrubbs.

What is the typical rate per hr fo this kind of job per man hour?

Also, I can get the mulch at about $22 a cubic yard, what should my markup cost be for getting the mulch and delivering it?

    Thanks for your help

I Pay 22 per yard and charge 32 I figure 1 yard per 100 sq ft. I then charge 30 per yard to install. I also use the same supplier who always gives me more than i ask almost an extra yrd just because they make alot from me.
So I figure in that extra yard and make a little more.

Once you get your base 3-4 inches in, you are not going to need to put the same amount in every 6 months, in a couple of years you will have a foot of mulch if you keep adding that much that frequently.

Your best bet is to price 1 1/2 pallets of mulch and (unless you can haul bulk in your trailer easily, I cannot) Double your price for purchase and that is what you charge. That is how I do it. I pay $110.00 a pallet which is 5 yards (for those that don't know) 3 cu. ft. bags.

I charge $225.00 to install that much.

    Hope this helps.
