Mums

    I have a client that wants me to cut back his mums for the winter. Will they come back? i just want to take the weedwacker to them. What would you do so they come back nice next year. Last year he lost two out three. He did do any thing to them.

    There hit and miss with mums. Only half of mine came back this year,

    What did you do with them. Did you take them down with a weedwacker?

    This time a year they twist right off,why make a mess with the trimmer?

    To get mums to look like they do when you buy them at garden centers in the fall they are cut back two to three times throughout the summer and heavily fertilized. Without a TON of work they arent going to be as good looking as when they were first planted and where I am they dont always survive the winter, so I just treat them as an annual and save the headache/letdown.
