Well my new to me CJ7 failed the dreaded echeck. They said my NOx level was too high ,whatever that means. So now what? It does smoke a little so could that be the problem? Anyone know what this could mean? Is it rings or valves seals or something else. How much will it cost me to fix this? It is a 258 4spd
    Thanks,

high nox indicates a possible bad cat convertor. Its the convertors job to change nox to carbon dioxide. I would change the cat, do a complete tune up and oil change, to include changing the O2 sensor.

Put octane boost in the gas and run it through again. This can be a very cheap fix compared to other alternatives. Maybe try another location. I passed 3 vehicles this way. Good luck
