Red thread has been a popular subject on here lately, seems to be a lot of it going around. I will defer to others for treatment suggestions.

More fertilizer will help. Do not water at night. Red thread often disappears when weather is hotter and dryer. Fungicides of the strobin group are best: Heritage, Compass, Signature.

If all else fails switch to Kentucky bluegrass. Older types of ryegrass and fine fescue are mostly susceptible. New better rye types like Silverdollar, Derby Xtreme, Manhattan V and Palmer V, are better. Don't plant any ryegrass unless it claims to be resistant to red thread--even then--don't believe it.

I've never, in 20+ years, seen red thread in a KB lawn around here. What city are you seeing this?
