Im looking at a used DC. It's a 2005 SP2800, 72" deck, 28HP FI Kohler, 897 hours. He claims it runs and cuts perfectly. THe only problem it has is one of the parking brakes isn't working, Im not sure what the problem was with it. What should I being looking to offer this guy. He is asking $5300.

It sounds like it has a broken cable. Those are a pain in the arse to replace. Neither parking brake will work if one of the cables is broken. I'd offer $4500.

I bought a dixie and every couple weeks somthing had to be adjusted. The ride sucked. In thin grass it would leave tails everywhere. On hills it sucked. The wheels would rip grass at every turn. "I know it is operator error"lol but on all the others I dont rip up anything. The controls were very jerky. It drank oil and gas for lunch and dinner. I save 1hr a day easliy on my Everide Warrior. Hey some people like them more power to them in my OPINION they suck. One year in the biz but have been on ztrs for years Im now getting paid for it.

kjslawn-did you buy a new one or a used one? The reason i'm asking is because i bought a new 60" and have put 150 hrs on it and haven't had one problem with it.

Let me add that I've put almost 2,000 hours on 2 different Dixies and after the initial setup there's been little to adjust. I did have some problems with my First Dixie using oil but I attribute that to the Kohler engine and not the mower.

Personally I would not worry about fixing the Park brake unless you live on the side of a hill.
My DC needs a brake cable as well but I have found very few times I wish it was working.

Don't worry Dixie Chopper is still a fine machine. Price might be a bit high but it still worth the money.
