Hi, I have decided to upgrade from my 1999 diesel dixie chopper! I have a couple of exmarks in mind and need help deciding which will be better for my business. One is a 2003 model demo lazer z 27 kohler/ 60 ultra cut, 261 hours ( sounds high for a demo but oh well), or a 2004 lazer z 23 kohler/ 60 ultra cut, brand new .3 hours. Dealer said the 03 model will have full waranty. 7,000.00, or I can get the new one for 7400.00. I will also bbe buying an exmark walkbehind tt or it may be a tthp 48 trivantage deck. They think it is an 03 too, but no hour meter. My main concern is choosing the right Z. I am new to exmarks, also kinda scared to buy this time of year when can't be tested in cutting grass. The demo model I guess one could say is already broken in! But unlike the 04 new one the 03 doesn't have R.O.P.S, and controls are moved, but is 4 horse more. I want a dependable machine, EXCELLENT cut, EXCELLENT striping. Which would most of you other lco's choose? Is the 23 horse kohler gonna be good enough? Thanks to any and sorry for long post.

I have a 2000 60" lazer with 23 hp liquid cooled kawi. with 1200 hours of some very rough mowing. No major problems, cuts good, stripes fair, don't like hills, a little under powered in thick grass. My last purchase was a 72" sabre tooth tiger but the exmark has been good to me and I still use regularly.

I have a 27 Koh. 60" cut Exmark. I think the clock is at about 800 hours. I've had to replace the oil temp sending unit 3 times and the generator went out at about 600 hours. Other than bledes that's it. I'm not totally sold on the FI thing. I'm an old man and I like a choke. But it is powerfull. If most of your work is well mantained don't be afraid of small HP. I have an 18 hp Z that does day to day great. However if you are going to cut wet grass and hills you need the hp.

Im not considering an hp. The two mowers I would be deciding on are just Z's. The demo is a 27/60 and the new one is 23/60.
