I am usually a solo residential groundskeeper. This year I want to start commercial, just to see what its like. So, I decided to contact a commercial company that is local. I asked them if they do sub-contracting. They told me to send a resume and references. The references part is no worry for me, but what about the resume?
What does it take for me to get a sub-contracting job with a commerical company?

Why seek sub-contracting work through another maintenance company? Why not simply pursue some commercial jobs on your own?

each company will be different, list your experience, and present it to them in person. if you are worthy you are worthy, but if they are subbing you, their name is on your work, so you better have examples of it to prove it is worth their name. youll have better luck obtaining your own clients.
