Sweet set up. What size is that Ferris, is that the big one, with the CAT diesel? I've always thought it would be cool to seel a ramp gate on a dump, but never seen it done.

That is a 72" mower but it is not diesel. The other mower is a 52". Believe it or not there is enough room to put my z spray(mini max) on there with both of these mowers on there.

It is nice to not pull a trailer but the Ford (6.4 diesel) only gets about 11 mpg and is all around more expensive to drive than a 3/4 ton pickup with a small trailer.

The tank between the bed and the cab is split so one side is diesel fuel and the other side acts as my nurse tank. I only spray and fert yards that I mow so the 50 gallon nurse tank is plenty for one day.

that set up would be perfect for fertin if... there was a drop down gate on side to be able to load pallets of fert in with fork truck, and a cover to keep it all dry.

Good point, James. Fert wants to be dry. It was a huge pain to cover my pallets with plastic tarps. And fert wants be loaded a pallet at a time.

got more photo's of that set up? Is the drop down gate custom made? Can you still hook up to trailer with it on?

I really like that set up.

Oh, and I have a 09 F250 superduty, with the 5.3 gas. I thought I would get better millage with the smaller motor...boy was I wrong! When loaded (trailer with zspray and pallet of fert in truck) I get 6 mpg. Unloaded with no trailer I get around 13 mpg.

Everything is custom made. I bought the dump bed from Crysteel but I fabricated everything else. The ramp setup comes off the truck in about 1 minute with my mini skid so the truck can be used to pull a trailer and for dumping. I can also pull a trailer with the ramp on the truck.

I'm not sure I would do this again. It was cheaper for me to pull around a 14' trailer with a 3/4 ton diesel pickup. To put things in perspective tires for the 450 cost me almost $2300. The lic. plate cost is double what a 3/4 pickup would be. Insurance seems to be more expensive. Brakes are going to be expensive when the time comes. The list goes on and on.

The truck is very versatile and I love not pulling a trailer but it was easier to work off a trailer. There are pluses and minuses for both setups.

    2300 for 6 tires?

That's 384.00 a tire. Maybe you're mistaken on that price.

I just put 6 tires on my one ton for 1300 installed.

Look up any name brand 225/70r19.5 12 ply tire and you won't find a price much less than $400. I got michelins and I think I got a good deal. I can't remember the exact price I paid but I think it was around $360 per tire and then you add mount balance disposal and tax and I was a bit over $2300 out the door.

19.5 tires on a medium duty truck are a whole different ball game than tires on a 1 ton truck.
