I've bought 3 of these over the past month and all have failed. One was defective right out of the box today. Back to Ewing irrigation they go.

What are you guys using for this type of application?

We have an old theater with raised and isolated planters that uses them. They've worked OK for about four years now. Only one I've had to deal with was to replace one broken by vandals.

For battery-operated situations we've switched to the Hunter WVC. There's a thread somewhere about the Hunter SVC that might be more what you're looking for. It's a battery-operated controller that isn't remote capable.

We replaced about 8 of the Solo with Hunters and.....we have had three failures in two years. However, so far they replaced all of the them no charge. The batteries don't seem to last more than a year in the Hunters.

We've installed half a dozen solorains without a failure so far.

These are the only nelson valve I'll touch.
