I have a TTHP and do not like the standard air intake/filtration system,I was going to fabricate a mounting bracket to install a donaldson type set-up I have off an old 3cyl diesel, the dealer told me not to attempt this as the engine will not get enough air with that set-up, I think it would but who knows, then i was at Autozone and saw those cone looking K@N filters with a 90 degree 1.5" adapter hose,I could probably make this work and it would get tons of air and the filter is washable.Anyone ever try something like Im talking about?

If you do it, you are going to run into a fuel/air ratio problem that you might not be able to adjust out (if you have adjustment screws).

The only way to recover from something like that is to get a new carburetor and install it.
Usually not a good idea unless it's available as a kit, and no dealer will do it unless it has been manufacturer approved (EPA issues).
