Now that my birthday is coming up, I will be expecting some money. I am thinking of installing a new engine on my Scag to replace my weak 14 hp Kaw. Which engine would you guys suggest for my mower. It is a 1996 Scag 52" SWZ. I have seen a lot of like the 98-00 models with Briggs and Stratton 18hp's on them. I am looking at probably a Kohler, Kawasaki, and a Briggs to replace my Kaw. with. I want something from 17-20 hp only. If you have any suggestions please respond

  2. 17 horse twin kaw should be enough power but its expensive probably around 800 to a grand

Im in the chicago area and the deals you can get at russo are amazeing all the daelers here in chicagoland dont know how they do it.
My dealer for stihl told me russo was selling chainsaws 5$ less then what he pays for the saw at his dealer cost.
Only reason we dont buy our mowers from em is service they got great prices but rotten service. Maybe thats how they give such good deals and also they are 2 hour drive from us and heavy traffic all the way up there.
But for something like a engine id take a chance at them prices thats a 1000 dollar engine .

Hey ACER and Odin00, what is a charging system on that 17 hp Kawasaki you were telling me about a while ago? So far my Scag dealer has quoted my on a new replacement 17hp Kaw. for $899. I thought that was a bit high. $699 sounds like a nice deal for one of those engines. Thanks again.

Just make sure that $699 engine comes with the $100+ muffler.
